Information on Adobe and PDF downloading

Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) is the open de facto standard for electronic document distribution worldwide. Adobe PDF is a universal file format that preserves all of the fonts, formatting, colours, and graphics of any source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it.

Adobe PDF files are compact and can be shared, viewed, navigated, and printed exactly as intended by anyone with free Adobe Acrobat Reader software.

You can download the Adobe Acrobat Reader here

How to View Adobe PDF files.

Once the Adobe Acrobat Reader software is installed, you just need to click on a link to a PDF file and the document will load in your browser window.

How to Save Adobe PDF files

You can save an Adobe PDF document to disk by using the Save button at the left end of the special Adobe Acrobat Reader button bar, which appears immediately above the viewing window (see below).

NOTE: An Adobe PDF file loads a page at a time, so that you can start reading the document before the file has fully loaded. Remember to wait until the document is complete in your browser before saving.

How to Print Adobe PDF files

When printing Adobe PDF files from within your web browser, DO NOT use the browser Print command. Instead, use the Print button at the left end of the special Adobe Acrobat Reader button bar (see below).

Downloading PDFs

How long will it take for you to download our PDF files? It's difficult to be accurate about this, as speeds vary according to a number of factors including the type of connection you have and how busy the Internet is. We display the size of each PDF document, for you to make an estimate of time to download according to the following table. The table gives an estimate only, but having used it once, you will have a much better idea of how times will work for you. Some report files are very large so you'll need to be aware of this (a 10Mb file with a 56.6 modem connection may take up to 30 mins to download).

Method K/sec 400Kb 600Kb 800Kb 1Mb
56.6 Modem 6 1 min 8 sec 1 min 42 sec 2 min 16 sec 2 min 50 sec
ISDN 7 56 sec 1 min 24 sec 1 min 52 sec 2 min 20 sec
T1 150 4 sec 6 sec 8 sec 10 sec
ADSL(0.5Mbps) 256 2 sec 3 sec 4 sec 4 sec
